2025 Farm Share CSA Member Agreement, Terms and Conditions

OUR SEASON

The Lazy Eight Stock Farm 2025 CSA Main Season will run for 21 weeks, beginning the week of May 7th; deliveries will be made weekly and every other week until September 28th. The 2025 CSA Fall Season will run for eight weeks, beginning the week of September 29th. Deliveries will be made weekly and every other week until November 23rd. The 2025 CSA Flower Season will run for 16 weeks, beginning June 12th. Deliveries will be made weekly and every other week until September 28th.

Signups are ongoing online throughout the year, and members can join at any time if memberships are still available.

Members are not required to sign up for the entire seasons offered, although we prefer commitments to a full-season membership. We do offer flexibility for shorter memberships, which will be on a prorated basis.

When you sign up for the CSA, you will choose between 2 payment options: pay in full with a check or credit card or a four-installment payment plan, with 25% due at signing and 25% due at the first of each month when your deliveries start.

OUR GROWING PRACTICES

Lazy Eight Stock Farm is a Certified Organic farm. Every year, we undergo a third-party audit with the KY Department of Agriculture to ensure our practices meet the standards of the USDA organic program. Our farm products are grown with respect to the natural resources and limitations of the land, without synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or GMOs.

We offer two types of shares: veggie shares and flower shares. All items in the CSA are grown on our farm under organic standards. The CSA program is primarily a veggie-focused subscription – we offer a few fruits, including watermelon, strawberries, and cantaloupe. In a typical growing season, we grow about 40 different items. You should expect to find these items and MANY more in your share:

  • Early Summer: arugula, broccoli, cabbage, green onions, kale, lettuce, radishes, spinach, yellow squash and zucchini, salad turnips, and more!

  • Mid-Summer: Slicing tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, watermelon, basil, broccoli, cucumbers, eggplant, collard greens, Swiss chard, onions, bell peppers, hot peppers, green beans, okra, potatoes, and more!

  • Fall: sweet potatoes, Asian greens, lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, onions, potatoes, spinach, winter squash, radishes, salad turnips, and more!

COMMUNICATIONS

Are you receiving our emails? Email is our primary way of communicating with our members in a timely manner. If you are not receiving our emails, please confirm that your email did not have any typos at signup, check your spam folders, and add us to your list of approved senders. If you are still having trouble, please contact us so we can ensure you receive our emails.

MEMBER ACCOUNT

When you sign up for the CSA online, an account is created to view and manage your subscription. Before the season starts, please ensure you can access your account. To log in, use the email address and password you created during sign-up. The link is available on the CSA page of our website or go to: https://csa.farmigo.com/account/lazyeightstockfarm

AGREEMENTS AT THE CSA PICKUP LOCATIONS

  • Look for your name: All shares are custom packed according to order, so please ONLY TAKE THE BOX WITH YOUR NAME ON IT.  If you think we have made an error and you don’t see a box with your name on it, please contact us ASAP so we can troubleshoot and get you your box. One of our most common reasons for a missing share at a pickup location is that someone sent a friend to get their share, and the friend did not know that they should verify the name on the label. It is very important to ensure whoever is picking up the share knows to look at the name on the label (this also applies to members of your household who don’t usually pick up your share).
  • Please pick up your share within the agreed-upon timeframe. All of our CSA pick-up hosts are volunteers. Please respect their time by picking up your box during the stated time frame. Please don’t ask our hosts to make special arrangements for your box; when many people make those requests, it can burden them unnecessarily.  We have instructed our hosts to donate or use any leftover shares at the end of the pickup time. If you have forgotten your box, please contact the farm.
  • All pickups are on the honor system, so you can send anyone to pick up your share for you; just make sure they know the rules for picking up.

CUSTOMIZING YOUR SHARE

If you need to change your share size (increase to a larger share or decrease to a smaller share), you are welcome to do so at any time. We will adjust your balance moving forward to reflect the price difference of your new share size. Just contact the farm, and we can help. We want you to have the right fit for your needs.

We have a customization feature that allows you to change the contents of your box weekly based on the availability of items. Your member access hours will remain the same all season long, and you will receive a weekly email from the farm reminding you that they are open and that you must make changes before the close of the member access hours (listed below). This limited customization window helps us ensure we have enough time to manage inventory and harvest according to your needs.

Here’s the schedule to access the online store via your member account and customize your box:

Member Access Hours

Pickup Day & Member Access Hours______________________

Thursday:  Opens noon on Monday  and closes by noon on Wednesday

Saturday:  Opens by noon Wednesday and closes by noon Friday

SundayOpens by noon Wednesday and closes by noon Friday

Your online account shopping cart will show you the default CSA share and the value of the items for the week for your size share. We use a credit system; extra-large shares typically have 38 credits, regular shares typically have 26 credits, and small shares have 20 credits. Please note that the customization feature is just an option, not a requirement. Too busy to log in and make changes? Don’t worry! You will still get a great curated box of veggies.

How to Customize Your Share:

Once logged into your account, you can see the box we have created in your “cart.” You can edit this box by either adding or subtracting from what we have chosen based on what is available in the store. Each item is worth a set amount of credits, and your cart will tell you when your credits are all used up for the week. Some items are limited per person because of availability, box size, and crop conditions. Once you alter your cart, you must “place order” and receive an email confirmation of your changes. Your changes have not been saved if you do not receive the confirmation email.

Occasionally, we must make last-minute changes to the share based on crop availability. Sometimes, things out of our control happen at the very last minute, like when the deer eat all the romaine lettuce overnight or when we experience freezing temperatures that damage our crops. These instances are rare, and we will tell you when we have to adjust the contents of your shared content.

Can I add more items to my share?

Are you planning for a crowd? Do you want to receive a bouquet, do some canning, or stock up on extra produce? It is easy to add additional items to your delivery when customizing your share. Simply add more items to your shopping cart during the customization period, and you will pay the extra balance due with a credit card at checkout. This must be done within the Member Access Hours.

Can I roll over unused credits?

No. If you have an active order and you do not use all of your credits for the week, they do not roll over to future weeks. If you do not want to receive a box that week, you can place a vacation hold (see below), and your balance will roll over to the next active delivery day. Unused balance at the end of the year does not transfer to the following year. We can help you schedule makeup boxes within the same season for any boxes you’ve skipped but paid for.

Managing Changes to your CSA Schedule, Payment Method, or Location

How to place a vacation hold:

If you place your vacation hold in advance, you will not receive a delivery that week. Login to your account and click on “delivery holds.” This feature will pause your subscription during weeks when you cannot receive it. You will receive an email confirmation when you enter a vacation hold.

*You are welcome to have someone pick up your share for you when you are away, and you do not need to notify us of this. Just make sure whoever is picking up for you understands the pickup process and to only get a box with your name on it.

If you have paid in full for the season, you have already paid for the whole season of the CSA. You can place a hold on your box when you can’t pick it up, and we can schedule to make that box up any other week in the CSA. We can also donate your vacation boxes if you notify us beforehand.

  • Please make double box requests via email to eat@lazyeightstockfarm.com. We need to receive your request by noon the day before your customization hours open. This will allow us to receive your request and add your box to your account while allowing you the whole time to make changes to your box in the online store.

How to change your pickup location:

This change must be done in advance before the close of the Member Access hours. Login to your account, find the green box on the right that says “Pickup Site,” and click on the green box that says “Change for Next Delivery.” Your change will be in effect for 1 week only and then will be reverted to your default pickup location. To make a permanent change, click “change permanently.”

What if I can’t pick up my box at the last minute?

If you cannot pick up your box and have not made previous arrangements to change your pickup info, please try to get someone to pick up the box for you. You do not need to notify us if someone else picks up for you; please just make sure they understand the pickup process and only take a box with your name on it. If something comes up at the last minute and no one can pick up your box, please contact the farm so we can notify the hosts. Our hosts will donate the contents of any shares that are not picked up at the end of the day. If you do not inform us in advance, our hosts cannot hold your box until later as they do not have the refrigeration and storage to accommodate perishable forgotten CSA boxes.

To change your payment method, log in to your account, go to “manage payments,” and then “update details.”

Newsletters and Recipes

Knowing WHAT TO DO with your new veggies is essential to being a happy CSA member.  We will frequently provide a newsletter that includes storage tips and recipe ideas, but we also post many more ideas on Facebook and Instagram. Please find us and “like” us so you get these posts. If you are not receiving our newsletters, contact us.

Product Guarantee

Our vegetables’ taste, nutritional value, and quality will far exceed anything you can buy at the grocery store. As a small organic farm, there will sometimes be minor aesthetic differences, like bug damage or dirt on the products. We strive to send you the highest quality product we can grow, sometimes under very challenging conditions. The quality of the contents of our boxes is guaranteed. If, for any reason, you are unhappy with an item’s quality, please contact us so we can find a solution to replace the value of that item. Since we are dealing with highly perishable items, there is bound to be spoilage at one time or another despite all our best efforts. We invite members to give us feedback about box quality and contents at any time by emailing us at eat@lazyeightstockfarm.com or calling Carla at 859-200-4831. When reporting quality issues, please include when and where you picked up your box and how you’re storing the produce.

Do I need to wash my CSA vegetables before eating them?

Yes. Most items you receive in your basket are field-washed after harvest for cleanliness and freshness. We grow everything according to USDA Organic standards, meaning your food is free of harmful chemicals or pesticides. However, because of the standard harvesting, handling, packing, and transportation process, we still recommend you thoroughly wash all your vegetables before eating them.

Visiting the Farm

Knowing your farmers and building a connection with where your food is grown is an important benefit of Community Supported Agriculture. We want to show you around the greenhouse and the veggie fields, and we want to chat about organic growing practices and why we farm the way we do. We will give you plenty of notice when farm events are coming up, and we hope you’ll have a chance to visit the farm!

Payment Schedule

When you sign up for the CSA, you can choose a payment plan that works for you, either four payments, or paying in full with a check or credit card. Once the season begins in May, deliveries are weekly and ongoing unless you choose to place your box on a vacation hold or end your subscription. The 4-payment plan is scheduled when you sign up, meaning that you will pay 25% when you join, and then 25% bill automatically for the first 3 months after you start deliveries. You can change your payment plan anytime and contact the farm. You may cancel your membership at no charge after completing the amount of time in your payment plan.

To end your recurring subscription and payment plan, go to “manage my payments” in your member account and then choose “cancel” under “automatic renewal charges.” By removing your recurring payment method, you will still receive shares as long as you have a positive balance on your account.

University of Kentucky employees using a workplace voucher must commit to at least 20 weeks in the CSA season. If you do not complete the 20 weeks of the main season you will forfeit the value of the voucher and may not be eligible to claim a voucher in the future.

You can find your account info on the online member portal if you have any questions about your balance.

Refund and Cancellation

CSA is a season-long commitment between the farmers and the consumers. In planning, we have purchased seeds and planted crops to meet our members’ needs. We ask for an 8-week minimum commitment, but we hope you’ll join us to eat locally all year. If you cannot continue in the CSA, you can cancel your membership after completing the number of weeks in your chosen payment plan. By updating your payment preferences, your payment method will not be auto-charged for the next payment. If you need assistance canceling an automatic upcoming payment, see the details listed above under “payment schedule,” or please contact us. Requests for a refund after a scheduled recurring payment are subject to a $50 cancellation fee. If you are experiencing a dramatic life change or hardship, please contact the farm, and we will discuss cancellation options.

Please contact us with questions, concerns, and feedback.  We love to hear from you and are here to help.

Sincerely,

The Farmers at Lazy Eight Stock Farm
