FROM THE FARMERS

The weeks before Thanksgiving have been a challenging and rewarding time for us since we started raising turkeys four years ago. It motivates us to know that our poultry and veggies will be part of many of your holiday celebrations. After the last Thanksgiving bird leaves the farm on Tuesday of this week, we will move onto other exciting projects: finishing our 42 X 96 ft hoophouse, where we plan to raise cold weather crops like spinach, turnips, beets, salad mix, and arugula; planting our first ever crop of garlic; figuring out why the refrigerator truck is leaking oil. We are grateful for your support, in the many wonderful forms it comes to us.

IT’S NOT TOO LATE…We were able to take a few turkeys to butcher today, so we will have a few turkeys extra if you need one for Thanksgiving.  Send a message to eat@lazyeightstockfarm.com and we will get you on the list!  Pick-up has been changed to TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20 at the farm.

RECIPES

Everyone in our family (but me) loves a sweet potato casserole with butter, brown sugar and nuts on top. I prefer this light, herby alternative to the traditional sweet potato bomb. Happy cooking and eating!
