FARM NEWS
FROM THE FARMERS
Bryce, Jack and I spent this past Sunday afternoon with Wendell and Tanya Berry… at their house…talking about life and agriculture and family…telling stories about old farmers and wayward animals! I expected to feel young and green and intimidated, so I was struck by the Berry’s easy demeanor. When Jack spit up on their carpet, they both laughed. When Bryce got emotional, sharing his gratitude, Wendell deftly and graciously moved onto other topics. It was a lovely afternoon.
Like all work, farming is hard work. It’s good to have advocates like Tanya and Wendell Berry in your corner. They listen, they understand. Wendell writes what feels to me like the truth. For instance, read this poem: MANIFESTO: MAD FARMER LIBERATION FRONT
