CSA POTLUCK THIS WEEKEND!
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28, 4 pm at the Farm (map below)
We are looking forward to seeing you Sunday afternoon at the potluck, and to trying all your delicious dishes! CSA member Jason Cohen has graciously volunteered to smoke some of our pasture-raised turkey. Bring your favorite dish and beverage, your boots if you’d like to walk around the farm, and a jacket if you’d like to stay for the bonfire and make s’mores.
FROM THE FARMERS
Anna was out of town last week visiting her family in Georgia. I went down Thursday to join her and Jack for a friend’s wedding on a farm near Warm Springs, Ga… where FDR would get away to drink moonshine during prohibition. This area, southwest of Atlanta, has gentle rolling hills, and the soil is a fertile brick red created by the shoreline of an ancient ocean. I recently read an article on NPR about this area, and you might like to check it out.
Being off the farm almost always gives me perspective on how we do things. I can better identify our struggles and successes, and begin to formulate how we should move forward.

RETURN OF THE EGGS
We’re excited about the return of eggs on the farm! It’s best for chickens to reach maturity during the shorter days of the year because their reproductive tracks are so influenced by the amount of light they receive. Beginning to lay in January will give them time to flush out their small pullet eggs before our Egg Shares start in May. We will have a limited supply, so keep an eye out for details about the egg share.

Spring Stir-fry with Tatsoi and Turnips
Try this stir-fry recipe and bulk it up with some of this weeks potatoes, radishes, and/or peppers.
Also, check out this dish from CSA members Meghan & Jason. Roasting veggies with chicken is a good, simple way to use up stuff in your CSA box. Many times we roast what’s left in the fridge at the end of the week, add some chick peas and cheese on top, and enjoy a simple, delicious meal.
